If
you are having high levels of cholesterol, the health care provider
might have recommended to reduce the intake of food rich in oil
content and you might also be taking some medicines for keeping it
under control. But, you might be surprised to know that honey can act
as the best remedy for cholesterol problems, of course who hates
honey, isn’t? Besides being tastier, it is also a healthy
alternative for reducing the level of cholesterol. Let’s us see the
types of cholesterol and how to solve this problem.
Cholesterol
Types:
Even though, cholesterol is crucial for a number of functions of
human body inclusive of production of different hormones, an increase
in its level in the human body can cause heart diseases. Cholesterol
is classified into different types and among them Low-Density
Lipoproteins shortly called as LDL is found as the bad cholesterol as
it attaches itself to the walls of the arteries thereby leading to
heart diseases. The other type of cholesterol known as High-density
cholesterol or HDL is considered good since it can clean out the
dangerous LDL present in the walls of arteries.
How
to consume honey for reducing cholesterol level:
As mentioned earlier, honey can effectively fight against bad
cholesterol. People with LDL cholesterol at higher levels can take 10
pieces of cinnamon sticks and can boil the same in 5 teacups of water
and once it is boiled, they can add a tablespoon of honey to it and
can drink the mixture when it is warm. This is highly recommended as
the greatest home remedy.
Proven
studies:
“The Scientific World Journal’ and the “Journal of Medicinal
Food” conducted a study to identify the effect
of honey
on LDL levels. In the study conducted by the former journal,
participants were made to consume 70 grams of honey continuously for
30 days and the same is done by the latter journal as well with a
different group of people. The results of the study showed that there
was a reduction of LDL level by 5.8% and 11% for the former study and
the latter study respectively. On the other hand, from the same
studies, it was found that there was an increase in the HDL level by
3.3% and 2% respectively. From these studies, it was proven that
honey can effectively work against bad cholesterol level and it can
also promote the growth of good cholesterol.
If
you can include our nature’s gift
like honey
to your diet right from a younger age, the chances of increase in the
LDL level can be totally minimized and also the growth of good
cholesterol can be promoted which in turn you can lead very healthier
life style.
